ACB to hold coaching and umpiring courses with the help of ACC
25.07.2010 10:05The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced its plans for organizing coaching and umpiring technical courses in Afghanistan as an effort to boost cricket infrastructure in this new cricket crazy country. The courses will be held with assistance from the Asian Cricket Council in October 2010.
In an announcement published in online and printed media in Afghanistan, ACB has invited interested individuals to register for the course through its technical department led by former national player Hasti Gul Abed. The announcement also includes the conditions a candidate shall meet to qualify for participation in the course. Among the conditions are: the individual shall be Afghan, holds a 12 grade education certificate, and shall understand English to benefit from English speaking instructors and trainers.
Course instructors and trainers are professional and experienced cricket teachers provided by the ACC., reads the announcement.
Holding such courses is one of the dire needs of Afghan cricket and ACC's assistance comes at the right time. With around 35 million population, Afghanistan needs such trainings on regular basis. It will be the first time Afghans get the opportunity to attend a coaching and umpiring course at home. Many Afghans have attended such ACC trainings before, but since those trainings were conducted outside Afghanistan and were organized for all ACC members, a big number of interested individuals could not attend them.
ACC helps Afghanistan since 2004 and holding training courses inside Afghanistan is a significant shift in its plans for supporting cricket in Afghanistan. Getting results will require ACC to hold more trainings on a regular basis inside Afghanistan.
Interested individuals can contact ACB at the following e mail and telephone to apply for the course, or visit ACB’s offices at 76 Shashdarak, opposite of Setara high school in Kabul:
