Afghanistan national squad departs to Kenya

The national squad of Afghanistan has departed to Kenya from the UAE where it has held its training camp for the last 10 days. Afghanistan will play its 6th match in the ICC Intercontinental Cup with Kenya and three ODIs in Nairobi, says the squad manager Sayed Nazim Jaar.
Jaar told the Cricket Post before his team’s departure in the Dubai airport that the team will have training sessions in Nairobi on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of September before taking on Kenya in the ICC Intercontinental Cup four day match on 2nd October and later three One Day Internationals. Afghanistan currently leads the ICC Intercontinental Cup points table with 77 points from five games and has qualified for the final which will be staged in Dubai, UAE on the 2nd of December.
The Afghan squad will arrive in Nairobi 7 pm local time today.

Afghanistan has named an 18-man squad for its Kenya tour: Nawroz Mangal (captain), Karim Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mirwais Ashraf, Mohammad Shahzad,Hamid Hassan, Samiullah Shinwari, Noor Ali Zadran, Asghar Stanikzai, Noor-ul-Haq, Ezatullah, Jawed Ahmadi, Shahpoor Zadran, Izatullah Khan, Aftab Alan, Hashmat Shahidi, Afsar Zazai
Left arm spin bowler Abdullah Mazari is not travelling with the team due to his left hand finger injury during the camp in Shahrjah. Instead Ezatullah Dawlatzai has been selected for the tour. Chief Selector Ahmad Shah Ahmadi says Ezatullah has been chosen as they did not have spin bowler in the reserve to substitute Mazari.
Mazari is the only left arm spinner in the Afghan squad.
